hello,
I'm also working on a design project of a bycicle helmet; I find lots of information on the web about bycicle helmets; but I also look to snowboard helmets etc..(www.boeri.com), because some things are the same
You need to check out the Standards about helmets, in America there is the Snell foundation. Here in Europe there is the CEN 1078 for bycicle helmets.
A good helmet manufacturer is Lazer (www.lazer.com), they have companies in America.
In a few words, as far as I have found information, a helmet is al about good fitting. The bycicle helmets that exist now can be put on wrong, so it will not protect the head.
Another thing is that the temples of the head should be protected more; nowadays helmets don't (exept some children helmets)
I'm working on this project because to little people wear a helmet; so there must be something missing in the current designs. I especially want to create a helmet that is safe en comfortable, but also one that users will wear!
