ABOUT CHARLES MARSHALL

Founder and Director of the Marshall Arts Academy of Music, Charles Marshall has been teaching music more than thirty years in the classroom, church and the studio. He also provides piano, vocal and organ music for weddings, dinner music and all types of social gatherings.

Mr. Marshall has enjoyed music as long as he can remember. As a young child he would listen to classical music for hours and would eventually "wear out" the records! He began his musical training on the piano when he was twelve years old.

During high school, he sang in Concert Choir and was the only tenor in the Madrigal Singers. On the day of the Spring Concert he woke up with laryngitis. His mother tried every home remedy and he was able to sing the two madrigal songs and mouth the words for the rest of the concert!

At Gordon College, Mr. Marshall majored in Music Education, with a concentration in piano. He toured throughout the northeastern United States and parts of Canada with the Choir as they sang in various churches. He earned a B.S. Degree in Music Education in three years since he began his college career as a French and Spanish major.

Mr. Marshall studied the Orff and Kodály approaches to Music Education at Westminster Choir College with Brigitte Warner and Katinka Daniel respectively. He also took a music workshop with Grace Nash who uniquely combined the two approaches.

He has directed many school and church music productions. One highlight of his career was directing the musical "I Love America" with the Southern Maine Christian School Chorus at the Biddeford City Theater.

Mr. Marshall is a member of the Maryland United Specialists in Kodály (MUSIK). He currently teaches Music in Grades K-6 at a private school, part-time.

He has been married to Pat for eighteen years. She is formerly an elementary school teacher. Pat has been an Independent Beauty Consultant for several cosmetic companies and is now an independent distributor for Morinda, Inc. whose flagship product is Tahitian Noni Juice, the fastest growing health product in the world! Who do you know who could benefit from Tahitian Noni Juice? Visit Pat's Web site or call 410.319.7770 for more information. Pat is also a Tole painter and operates Pat's Tolehouse and Potpourri.

Marshall Arts Academy of Music opened its doors in May, 1995 and was incorporated in April, 1998. Plans are being formulated to expand the school by offering a diversity of courses and instructors.
